[49 CFR 192.923(a)]\n\nB. Primary Method. An operator using direct assessment as a primary assessment method must have a plan that complies with the requirements in: [49 CFR 192.923(b)]\n\n1. §3325 and ASME B31.8S (incorporated by reference, see §507), Section 6.4, and NACE SP0502 (incorporated by reference, see §507) if addressing external corrosion (EC). [49 CFR 192.923(b)(1)]\n\n2. §3327 and NACE SO0206 (incorporated by reference, see §507), if addressing internal corrosion (IC). [49 CFR 192.923(b)(2)]\n\n3. §3329 and NACE SP0204 (incorporated by reference, see §507 if addressing stress corrosion cracking (SCC). [49 CFR 192.923(b)(3)]\n\nC. Supplemental Method. An operator using direct assessment as a supplemental assessment method for any applicable threat must have a plan that follows the requirements for confirmatory direct assessment in §3331.
