Closure Letter
Dear Mr. Curry:
On December 8, 2010, the Associate Administrator for Pipeline Safety, Pipeline and Hazardous
Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), formerly the Research and Special Programs
Administration, issued a Corrective Action Order (CAO) in the above-referenced case. The
CAO required Chevron Pipe Line Company to take immediate corrective actions with respect to
its Rangely to Salt Lake City Number 2 crude oil pipeline system, which experienced a failure on
December 1, 2010. After review of the records and the work performed on this pipeline system,
the Director of the Western Region, PHMSA, has determined that Chevron Pipe Line Company
has satisfactorily complied with the terms of that CAO.
Accordingly, this case is now closed and no further action is contemplated with respect to the
matters involved in this case. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
