Closure Letter
Dear Mr. Meier:
On July, 21 2011, the Associate Administrator for Pipeline Safety, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials
Safety Administration (PHMSA), formerly the Research and Special Programs Administration, issued
a Corrective Action Order (CAO) in the above-referenced case. The CAO required TransCanada
Northern Border, Inc., to take immediate corrective actions with respect to its gas transmission
pipeline known as the Bison Pipeline which experienced a failure on July 20, 2011. After review of
the records and the work performed on these pipeline systems, the Director of the Western Region,
PHMSA, has determined that TransCanada Northern Border, Inc. has satisfactorily complied with the
terms of that CAO. Accordingly, this case is now closed.
Thank you for your assistance in bringing this effort to an acceptable conclusion.
Sincerely,
Chris Hoidal
Director, Western Region
Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration
