Then call emergency response telephone number on shipping paper. If shipping paper\nnot available or no answer, refer to appropriate telephone number listed on the inside back cover.\nStay upwind, uphill and/or upstream.\nKeep unauthorized personnel away.\n•\n•\n•\nPROTECTIVE CLOTHING\n•\nWear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).\n•\nWear chemical protective clothing that is specifically recommended by the manufacturer when there is\nNO RISK OF FIRE.\n•\nStructural firefighters' protective clothing provides thermal protection but only limited chemical protection.\n•\nFor Phosphorus (UN1381): Special aluminized protective clothing should be worn when direct\ncontact with the substance is possible.\nEVACUATION\nImmediate precautionary measure\n•\nIsolate spill or leak area in all directions for at least 50 meters (150 feet) for liquids and at least 25 meters\n(75 feet) for solids.\nSpill\n•\n•\nFor highlighted materials: see Table 1 - Initial Isolation and Protective Action Distances.\nFor non-highlighted materials: increase the immediate precautionary measure distance, in the downwind\ndirection, as necessary.\nFire\n•\nIf tank, rail tank car or highway tank is involved in a fire, ISOLATE for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all\ndirections; also, consider initial evacuation for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions.\nPage 202\nERG 2024\n\nSubstances - Spontaneously Combustible -\nToxic and/or Corrosive (Air-Reactive)\nGUIDE\n136\nEMERGENCY RESPONSE\nFIRE\nSmall Fire\n•\nWater spray, wet sand or wet earth.\nLarge Fire\n•\nWater spray or fog.\n•\nDo not scatter spilled material with high-pressure water streams.\n•\n•\nIf it can be done safely, move undamaged containers away from the area around the fire.\nFire Involving Tanks, Rail Tank Cars or Highway Tanks\nFight fire from maximum distance or use unmanned master stream devices or monitor nozzles.\n•\nCool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.\n•\nWithdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety devices or discoloration of tank.\n•\nALWAYS stay away from tanks in direct contact with flames.\nSPILL OR LEAK\n•\nELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames) from immediate area.\n•\nDo not touch or walk through spilled material.\n•\nDo not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing.\n•\nStop leak if you can do it without risk.\nSmall Spill\n•\nCover with water, sand or earth. Shovel into metal container and keep material under water.\nLarge Spill\n•\nDike for later disposal and cover with wet sand or earth.\n•\nPrevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.\nFIRST AID\nRefer to the “General First Aid” section.\nSpecific First Aid:\n•\nIn case of contact with substance, keep exposed skin areas immersed in water or covered with wet\nbandages until medical attention is received.\n•\nRemoval of solidified molten material from skin requires medical assistance.\n•\nRemove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes at the site and place in metal container filled with\nwater. Fire hazard if allowed to dry.\nIn Canada, an Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP) may be required for this product.\nPlease consult the shipping paper and/or the \"ERAP\" section.\nERG 2024\nPage 203","truncated":false,"body_characters":4145}
