Above a given \"Control Temperature\"\nthey may decompose violently and catch fire.\n•\nMay ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.).\n•\nMay ignite spontaneously if exposed to air.\n•\nMay be ignited by heat, sparks or flames.\n•\nMay burn rapidly with flare-burning effect.\n•\nContainers may explode when heated.\n•\nRunoff may create fire or explosion hazard.\n•\n•\n•\nHEALTH\nFire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases.\nIngestion or contact (skin, eyes) with substance may cause severe injury or burns.\nRunoff from fire control or dilution water may cause environmental contamination.\nPUBLIC SAFETY\nCALL 911. Then call emergency response telephone number on shipping paper. If shipping paper\nnot available or no answer, refer to appropriate telephone number listed on the inside back cover.\nKeep unauthorized personnel away.\nStay upwind, uphill and/or upstream.\n•\n•\n•\nPROTECTIVE CLOTHING\n•\nWear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).\n•\nWear chemical protective clothing that is specifically recommended by the manufacturer when there is\nNO RISK OF FIRE.\n•\nStructural firefighters' protective clothing provides thermal protection but only limited chemical protection.\nEVACUATION\nImmediate precautionary measure\n•\nIsolate spill or leak area in all directions for at least 50 meters (150 feet) for liquids and at least 25 meters\n(75 feet) for solids.\nLarge Spill\n•\n•\nConsider initial evacuation for at least 250 meters (800 feet) in all directions.\nFire\nIf tank, rail tank car or highway tank is involved in a fire, ISOLATE for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all\ndirections; also, consider initial evacuation for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions.\nPage 226\nERG 2024\n\nOrganic Peroxides (Heat and Contamination\nSensitive/Temperature Controlled)\nGUIDE\n148\nEMERGENCY RESPONSE\nFIRE\n•\nThe temperature of the substance must be maintained at or below the “Control Temperature” at\nall times.\nSmall Fire\n•\n•\nWater spray or fog is preferred; if water not available use dry chemical, CO2 or regular foam.\nLarge Fire\nFlood fire area with water from a distance.\n•\nUse water spray or fog; avoid aiming straight or solid streams directly onto the product.\n•\nDo not move cargo or vehicle if cargo has been exposed to heat.\n•\n•\nIf it can be done safely, move undamaged containers away from the area around the fire.\nFire Involving Tanks, Rail Tank Cars or Highway Tanks\nFight fire from maximum distance or use unmanned master stream devices or monitor nozzles.\n•\nCool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.\n•\nBEWARE OF POSSIBLE CONTAINER EXPLOSION.\n•\nALWAYS stay away from tanks in direct contact with flames.\n•\nFor massive fire, use unmanned master stream devices or monitor nozzles; if this is impossible, withdraw\nfrom area and let fire burn.\nSPILL OR LEAK\n•\nDO NOT allow the substance to warm up. Use a coolant agent such as dry ice or ice (wear thermal\nprotective gloves). If this is not possible or none can be obtained, evacuate the area immediately.\n•\nELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames) from immediate area.\n•\nKeep combustibles (wood, paper, oil, etc.) away from spilled material.\n•\nDo not touch or walk through spilled material.\n•\nStop leak if you can do it without risk.\nSmall Spill\n•\nPick up with inert, damp, non-combustible material using clean, non-sparking tools and place into loosely\ncovered plastic containers for later disposal.\nLarge Spill\n•\nDike far ahead of liquid spill for later disposal.\n•\nPrevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.\n•\nDO NOT CLEAN-UP OR DISPOSE OF, EXCEPT UNDER SUPERVISION OF A SPECIALIST.\nFIRST AID\nRefer to the “General First Aid” section.\nSpecific First Aid:\n•\nContaminated clothing may be a fire risk when dry.\nIn Canada, an Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP) may be required for this product.\nPlease consult the shipping paper and/or the \"ERAP\" section.\nERG 2024\nPage 227","truncated":false,"body_characters":4197}
