Then call emergency response telephone number on shipping paper. If shipping paper\nnot available or no answer, refer to appropriate telephone number listed on the inside back cover.\nKeep unauthorized personnel away.\nStay upwind, uphill and/or upstream.\n•\n•\n•\nPROTECTIVE CLOTHING\n•\nWear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).\n•\nStructural firefighters' protective clothing provides thermal protection but only limited chemical protection.\nEVACUATION\nImmediate precautionary measure\n•\nIsolate spill or leak area in all directions for at least 50 meters (150 feet) for liquids and at least 25 meters\n(75 feet) for solids.\nSpill\n•\n•\nFor highlighted materials: see Table 1 - Initial Isolation and Protective Action Distances.\nFor non-highlighted materials: increase the immediate precautionary measure distance, in the downwind\ndirection, as necessary.\nFire\n•\nIf tank, rail tank car or highway tank is involved in a fire, ISOLATE for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all\ndirections; also, consider initial evacuation for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions.\nPage 272\nERG 2024\n\nSubstances (Low to Moderate Hazard)\nGUIDE\n171\nEMERGENCY RESPONSE\nFIRE\nCAUTION: Fire involving Safety devices (UN3268) and Fire suppressant dispersing devices (UN3559) may\nhave a delayed activation and a risk of hazardous projectiles. Extinguish the fire at a safe distance.\nSmall Fire\n•\n•\nDry chemical, CO2, water spray or regular foam.\nLarge Fire\nWater spray, fog or regular foam.\n•\nDo not scatter spilled material with high-pressure water streams.\n•\nIf it can be done safely, move undamaged containers away from the area around the fire.\n•\n•\nDike runoff from fire control for later disposal.\nFire Involving Tanks\nCool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.\n•\nWithdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety devices or discoloration of tank.\n•\nALWAYS stay away from tanks in direct contact with flames.\nSPILL OR LEAK\n•\nDo not touch or walk through spilled material.\n•\nStop leak if you can do it without risk.\n•\nPrevent dust cloud.\n•\nFor Asbestos, avoid inhalation of dust. Cover spill with plastic sheet or tarp to minimize spreading. Do not\nclean up or dispose of, except under supervision of a specialist.\nSmall Dry Spill\n•\nWith clean shovel, place material into clean, dry container and cover loosely; move containers from spill\narea.\nSmall Spill\n•\nPick up with sand or other non-combustible absorbent material and place into containers for later\ndisposal.\nLarge Spill\n•\nDike far ahead of liquid spill for later disposal.\n•\nCover powder spill with plastic sheet or tarp to minimize spreading.\n•\nPrevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.\nFIRST AID\nRefer to the “General First Aid” section.\nERG 2024\nPage 273","truncated":false,"body_characters":3569}
