Covered Task List for Constructing Alternative MAOP Pipelines
This list applies to the construction of gas pipelines that will operate pursuant to the
Alternative Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (Alt MAOP) regulations in
§ 192.620. If a construction task on this list is performed after December 22, 2008, the
task must be treated as a “covered task”, notwithstanding the definition in § 192.801(b),
and the operator must implement the requirements of 49 CFR Part 192, subpart N –
Qualification of Pipeline Personnel. PHMSA and State pipeline safety agencies will use
this list when inspecting for Alternative MAOP pipelines for code compliance.
