Cause detail: INTERNAL CORROSION

Cause detail: APPROXIMATELY 7.7 BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL WERE RELEASED FROM THE SEGMENT 2 RED HILLS INTERCONNECT 8INCH PIPELINE. THE DATE AND TIME OF THE RELEASE (PART A Q4) IS INDICATIVE OF THE EARLIEST DATE/TIME THE RELEASE COULD HAVE STARTED BASED ON THE LAST TIME THE STATION HAD BEEN VISITED. TO STOP THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE A CLAMP WAS INSTALLED. TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS, PLAINS CUT-OUT AND REPLACED THE FAILED SECTION. A SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT WILL BE SUBMITTED PENDING FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSE OF THE RELEASE. SUPPLEMENTAL: THE CAUSE OF THE RELEASE IS ATTRIBUTED TO INTERNAL CORROSION. ON 10/18/2023, THERE WAS NO MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE PIPELINE THAT HAD THE RELEASE; THE TIME IS REFLECTIVE OF WHEN THE OPERATOR LEFT THE STATION AND CONFIRMED THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A RELEASE.
