OPERATORS ON PLATFORM RESPONDED AND FOUND THE COMPRESSOR SKID ON FIRE. THE AREA WAS MADE SAFE BY OPERATORS AND THE ESD FUNCTIONED AS INTENDED SHUTTING THE SUCTION AND DISCHARGE PIPELINE TO AND FROM THE COMPRESSOR. THE FIRE WAS ALLOWED TO BURN OUT RESULTING IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF THE COMPRESSOR. NO INJURIES, NO FATALITIES, NO 3RD PARTY DAMAGES. AFTER SITE WAS MADE SAFE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DAMAGES TO OPERATOR WOULD EXCEED 191 INCIDENT REPORTING THRESHOLDS AND THE NRC WAS NOTIFIED. INVESTIGATION SUGGESTS THAT THE BOLTS SECURING THE VALVE CAP ON THE COMPRESSOR FAILED, RESULTING IN THE RELEASE OF NATURAL GAS. THE ESCAPED NATURAL GAS IS BELIEVED TO HAVE MIGRATED TO AN IGNITION SOURCE, LEADING TO THE FIRE. DUE TO THE LOSS OF THE COMPRESSOR THE EXACT IGNITION SOURCE IS UNDETERMINED.","truncated":false,"body_characters":1453}
