Cause detail: PREFERENTIAL CORROSION ON INTERIOR ERW SEAM WELD INITATED RUPTURE OF INLINE DRIP BELOW TRANSMISSION PIPELINE.INSTANTANEOUS RELEASE OF GAS WAS IGNITED PROBABLY BY OVERHEAD RURAL ELECTRIC POWER LINES. LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMET RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY TO THE EMERGENCY CALL AND BLOCKED ALL RURAL ROADS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. KMIGT PERSONNEL RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY AND ISOLATED PIPELINE SECTION FROM NATURAL GAS SOURCES. FIRE BURNED FARM CROPS IN VICINITY OF RUPTURE ALONG WITH THE POWER POLE AND SOME ELECTRIC POWER LINES. RURAL POWER COMPANY RESTORED SERVICE WITHIN A FEW DAYS. SAMPLES OF THE FAILED MATERIAL WERE SENT FOR EVLAUATION TO A METALLUGIST AT E N ENGINEERING IN CHICAGO, IL. ADDITIONAL MITIGATION IS BEING CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLAN FILED WITH THE OPS CENTRAL REGION OFFICE
