Box 1879\nBarr Incorporates\nRef No. 02-0281\nMemphis, TN 38113\nDear Mr. Rhodes:\nThis is in response to your October 16, 2002 letter asking if the Research and Special Programs\nAdministration (RSPA) would consider the separation of the corrosive class into two divisions; i.e,.\nmaterials that are corrosive only to metals and materials that are corrosive only to skin.\n(U.N. Committee) is considering the separation of Class 8 (Corrosive) materials into two or more\nCurrently, neither this Office or the United Nations Committee on the Transport of Dangerous Goods\ndivisions. In fact, the U.N. Committee has considered this issue in the past and decided that separation\nis not necessary. It you wish to provide this information to your customers, you are permitted to add\nadditional information, such as \"skin corrosive only\" following the required shipping descriptions on\nshipping papers and package markings..\nI hope this information is helpful. If we can be of further assistance, do not hesitate to contact us.\nSincerely,\nDelmer F. Mitchell\nTo Whom It May Concern:\nMy question is, would RSPA consider the separation of the corrosive class into two parts;\nthose materials that are corrosive to inetals and those that are corrosive to the skin only?\nMy company packages paint removers for use with various types of paint and, on various\ntypes of materials. Some of these removers are corrosive, others are flammable to some\ndegree. None of these are corrosive to metal, only to you r skin.\nThe reason I ask is, we have had, a good number of our customers, that export our removers,\nask if the ones that are corrosive; are they corrosive to the skin or metal.\nI look forward to your comments:\nSincerely\nThe has\nJohn Rhodes\n2105 Channel\nBarr Incorporated\nMemphis, TN 38113\nPh 800.782.9926\nEx 800.521.9508","truncated":false,"body_characters":2247}
