Box 155\nShakopee,\nMN\n55379\nDear Mr. Hosch:\nThis is in response to your letter dated December 4, 2002\nrequesting clarification on a shipping paper you provided.\nThe shipping paper requirement in § 172.201 (a) (1) (iii) specifies\nthat a shipping paper, containing both\na regulated hazardous\nmaterial and a non-regulated material, may identify the hazardous\nmaterial by placing an \"X\" in a column captioned \"HM.\" (The \"X\"\nmay be replaced by \"RO\" if appropriate.) The column heading you\ndescribe in your letter would not be in compliance with the HMR.\nI hope this information is helpful.
