Specifically,\nyou ask if the technical name required on the shipping paper by § 172.203(k) of the Hazardous\nMaterials Regulations (HMR: 49 CFR Parts 171-180) must be marked on the packaging when using\nthe limited quantity marking found in § 172.315 of HM-215E.\nAs specified in § 173.315, marking the package with the identification number inside a white square-\non-point configuration identifies the material as a limited quantity and fulfills the requirements of\n§ 172.301(a)(1). If a shipper uses this method to identify a packaging containing a limited quantity, he\ns not required to mark the shipping name or technical name on the packaging. If a shipper chooses t\nnark the packaging with the shipping name, then a technical name may be added, but so long as th\nrequirements of § 173.315 are met the technical name is not required.\nI hope this satisfies your request.\nSincerely,\nShas Dog\nSusan Gorsky\nSenior Transportation Regulations Specialist\nOffice of Hazardous Materials Standards\n172.203,\n172.315\n030229\nASS 00 3.\n\n<<<PAGE 2>>>\n\nSupke\n$172.203(\nLION\nP.O.
