No: 04-0232\n102 S. 4* Street\nDunlap, IL 61525\nDear Ms. Aeschilman:\nThis is in response to your letter dated September 19th, 2004 regarding shipping paper\nrequirements of the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 171-180)\nSpecifically, you ask if the total quantity listed on a shipping paper must be modified to\nreflect intermediate drop-offs of medical oxygen cylinders.\nAs specified in § 172.202(a)(5), the total quantity of hazardous materials covered by a\ndescription must be indicated on a shipping paper, and must include an indication of the\napplicable unit of measurement. Cylinders are excepted from this requirement, provided\nsome indication of total quantity is shown (e.g., \"10 cylinders\"). A driver is not required\nto update a shipping paper to reflect a partial delivery.\nI hope this information is helpful. Please contact us if you require additional assistance.\nSincerely,\nChief, Standards Development\nOffice of Hazardous Materials Standards\n172-202(e)\n040232\n\n<<<PAGE 2>>>\n\nEichenlaub\n§172.202(c)\nShipping Papers\n04-0232\nSeptember 19, 2004\n102 $ 4*h Street\nMichelle Aeschliman\nDunlap, IL 61525\nMichellea14@msn.com\nU.S. Department of Transportation\nResearch and Special Programs Administration\n400 7* Street, S.W\nOffice of Hazardous Materials Safety\nWashington, D.C. 20590\nDear Sir or Madam:\nI am writing for clarification regarding shipping paper requirements for the delivery of\ncompressed medical oxygen cylinders. If a delivery person makes multiple stops during\nthe course of a day, does the shipping paper need to be changed or re-done after each\ndelivery or is the original \"permanent\" shipping paper for the day sufficient? Each\ndelivery is of the same type of cylinder (medical oxygen) and there is a record of each\ndelivery indicating the recipient and the amount of cylinders received\nThank you for your help.\nSincerely,\nMichelord lenin\nMichelle Aeschliman","truncated":false,"body_characters":2075}
