No. 08-0 1 18\nDear Mr. Plasencia:\nThis is in response to your request for clarification of the Hazardous Materials\nRegulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 17 1 - 180) regarding aerosols that are shipped in\naccordance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).\nSpecifically, you ask whether aerosols with a capacity of more than 1 L may be\ntransported to, from or within the United States in accordance with the IMDG Code if the\naerosols meet the conditions in 4 1 7 1.23(b)(l).\nProvided the shipment also conforms to the applicable requirements in 4 4 17 1.22,\n\"Authorization and conditions for the use of international standards and regulations,\"\nand 171.25, \"Additional requirements for the use of the IMDG Code,\" aerosols\nshipped under the proper shipping name \"Aerosol,\" LN1950, meeting the conditions\nin 4 17 1.23(b)(l)may be transported to, from or within the United States under the\nIMDG Code.\nI hope this information is helpful.
