No. 08-0126\nDear Mr. King:\nThis responds to your letter requesting clarification of the segregation requirements for certain\nexplosives under the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 17 1 - 1 80).\nSpecifically, you ask whether an explosive item classed as a Division 1.4D may be\ntransported on the same transport vehicle as detonators.\nThe answer is yes. Except as otherwise specified, the provisions of 5 177.848(g)(3)(iv) apply\nto detonators transported on the same transport vehicle with Division 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 material.\nAn explosive item classed as a Division 1.4D may be transported on the same transport\nvehicle as a detonator.\nI trust this satisfies your inquiry. Please contact us if we can be of further assistance.\nSincerely,\nHattie L. The 4 1 understand tells rne to review 177.835(g). In reading\nthis paragraph it is plain that detonators are not allowed to be transported with any 1 .I,\n1.2, 1.3 or 1.5 unless the provisions of (g) (I), (2) or (3) are met.\nAs I understand, because there is no reference to 1.4 that items that are approved and\nClassed as 1.4D may be transported with detonators. Is this correct?\nSincerely,\n-\nLarry 1 (Scooter) King\nRegulatory Manager\n25800 SCIENCE PARK DRIVE CLEVELAND, OHIO 441 22 21 61464-2400","truncated":false,"body_characters":2061}
