No.: 12-0242\nDear Mr. Ji:\nThis is in response to your October 24, 2012 email concerning the requirements for cylinders\nin accordance with the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 171-180).\nSpecifically you request confirmation of your understanding of the appropriate lot size for\nconducting the physical tests on DOT 3AA and DOT 3AAX cylinders. In your letter you\ndescribe a scenario in which cylinders are subjected to heat treatment two at a time in a\ncontinuous furnace using a conveyor. Specifically you ask if cylinders continuously fed into\nthe heat treatment furnace may be considered the same lot for the purposes of conducting the\nphysical tests in accordance with§ 178.37.\nProvided each of the cylinders were processed through the same equipment under the same\nconditions of time and temperature those cylinders may be considered the same lot for the\npurposes of testing in accordance with§ 178.37.\nI hope this information is helpful. (I believe that the \"same heat treatment condition\" is possible in the batch\nfurnace type\nTherfore, could you please let us get your opinion about whether they could be\nconsidered or not as a lot (maximum 30) in that case? This is our key point of the question.\nBest regards,\n*****************************************************\nDirect : +82 (0)51 899 0112 / Fax. +82 (0)51 832 0135\nMobile: +82 (0)10 8382 3533\nE-mail : hiji@nkcf.com\n************************\n*********\n• Original Message--\nFrom : <carolyn.drakeford@dot.gov>\nTo : <hiji@nkcf.com>\nCC :\nSent: 2012-10-24 11:53:22 PM\nSubject : RE: [RE]:Re: [RE]:Re: [RE]:RE: [FW]:RE: A inquire related to DOT Audit at NK-Korea\nMr. Hyun-Joon Ji,\nOn behalf of Mr. Charles Betts, Director Office of Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety, Standards and Rulemaking Division\nattached is your response to your inquiry below.
