In review of the\napplication sections of the HMR, 49 CFR 173.159 we have confirmed that we meet all conditions under\n173.159(e). The interpretation we seek confirmation upon is whether or not our battery requires\nadditional packaging per the HMR. We request this confirmation because we have specifically designed\nour battery with the intent to transport it without the need of additional packaging. This is due to the\nfact that our battery includes an integrated steel enclosure that encompasses all internal components of\nthe battery.\nThe enclosure, which encompasses packaging, consists of the following:\n1) Steel skid / pallet (6 mm steel wall thickness, continuously welded)\n2)\nSteel enclosure (3 mm wall thickness, welded to steel skid\n3)\nBattery electrolyte resistance spray coated lining inside steel enclosure\n4)\nLifting features rated for full load overhead lift\n5)\nTie down points for securing battery to transport vehicle\nYour confirmation and comments on our interpretation is greatly appreciated.\nIf you have questions, don't hesitate to contact us at 604-563-2144.\nSincerely,\nBrian Adams\nProduct Development Manager\nAvalon Battery Corporation\n1226 Frances Street\nVancouver, BC V6A 1Z5\nEnclosure (1)\n\n<<<PAGE 5>>>\n\nThick Steel with\nWalls 3 mm\nReinforcement\nHorizontal\nBand Structure\n(2X)\nBase Skid 6 mm\nThick Steel\nTwo tanks insert\n\n<<<PAGE 6>>>","truncated":false,"body_characters":3237}
