Specifically, you ask\npackage for hazardous material solids.\nYes, a salvage drum marked \"UN IA2/X445/S\" may be used as a\nsingle packaging for a hazardous material, solid when it is\nspecified in column\nprescribed or permitted in the non-bulk packaging section\nTable (HMT) for the material being packaged. As with any UN\n(8B) Of the § 172.101 Hazardous Materials\nstandard packaging, the packaging\nmust be compatible with the\nlevel for which the packaging has been tested\nlading (e.g., corrosivity, permeability) and,\nthe performance\ngroup, gross mass) may not be exceeded. See S$ 173.24 and\nle.g., packing\n173.24a.\nTo avoid confusion, the word \"SALVAGE\" marked on the drum may be\nremoved or covered\nwhen offered for transportation under these\ncircumstances.
