Constantine\nExecutive Secretary\nMaryland Public Service Commission\n301 West Preston Street\nBaltimore, Maryland 21201\nDear Mr. Constantine:\nThis is in response to your letter dated August 4, 1972, regarding the waiver granted to\nWashington Gas Light Company and the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company from the\nrequirements of Section 192.59(a)(1), Section 192.457(b) and Section 192.465(e) of Title 49 of\nthe Code of Federal Regulations.\nRegarding your questions concerning the status of the waiver after three years, the Office of\nPipeline Safety at that time will evaluate the reports on the results of this type of pipeline\nrehabilitation. Based on those reports and all other available relevant information, we will then be\nin a position to determine whether a renewal is justified. Because of the newness of the method\nand the possibility of unforeseen results, it would be premature for this office now to assure that\nthe waiver will be renewed. However, if the method is successful, and, with other information,\nsupports a renewal of the waiver, this office will at that time consider amending the regulations to\npermit its use.\nWe trust that this has answered your questions.
