Dear Mr. Clark:
This acknowledges your letter of March 6, 1978, notifying us in accordance with 49 CFR 195.6 of the proposed trans-
portation of anhydrous ammonia by pipeline between Tampa and Bartow, Florida. We will review the matter and, if
necessary, contact you for additional information.
Based on the date we received your letter, the proposed transportation may begin on June 14, 1978, unless we notify
you before that time that we have determined the proposed transportation would be unduly hazardous.

Dear Sir:
This is to advise that the Tampa Pipeline Corporation has proposed to install a 6" welded steel anhydrous ammonia
pipeline from the Port in the City of Tampa to the phosphate mines in Bartow.
The carrier will transport anhydrous ammonia, agricultural grade, chemical name NH3 listed as a non-flamable gas in
part 173 of title 49 of the code of Federal Regulations Revised as of December 31, 1976.
The carrier pipe specifications are as follows.

Grade -X-42 Seamless
Tensil Strength -42,000 p.s.i.
Thickness -0.25" wall
Protective Coating -XTRU Coating Thickness 60 mil
Allowable Working Pressure -2.210 p.s.i.
Actual Working Pressure -850 p.s.i.
Internal Pressure at Minimum Yield -3,170 p.s.i
Safety Factor Based on Minimum Yield -10.5
The pipe is to be purchased from U.S. Steel Corporation. The coating is by Standard Pipe Protection Co., a Div. of General
Steel Industries.
