The fact that the\npipelines serve \"farm tap\" customers along the way to the distribution centers does not affect our\nopinion since the primary function of the pipelines is to deliver gas to distribution centers.\nCesar DeLeon\n192.3 TRANSMIL 1\n\n<<<PAGE 2>>>\n\nMemorandum\nApril 23, 1979\nSUBJECT: Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company\nDetermination of Transmission Lines\nFROM: Chief, Eastern Region, DMT-15\nTO: Associate Director, Office of Pipeline Safety Regulation, DMT-30\nTHRU: Associate Director, Office of Operations and Enforcement, DMT-10\nAttached is a copy of drawing STD.3490-65 which shows various\npipelines, A through M, of Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company,\nWilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, that receive gas from Transcontinental Gas\nPipe Line Corporation and Tennessee Gas Trnasmission [sic] Company.\nSubtracting the 750 customers served directly off pipelines A through M,\nthere are about 110,300 customers in the various areas served by this\noperator. The operator has advised that there are about 83,700\ncustomers in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton which represents 75% of all its\ncustomers.\nThe Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission wishes to know if our office\nconsiders the lines marked in red to be transmission lines or a part of\nPennsylvania Gas and Water Company's distribution system. Basically,\nMr. John Falherty, Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission, and I\nconsider these lines, A through M, as being transmission lines with 750\ncustomers directly off the lines being equivalent to farm taps. The 12-inch\nAuburn Line, marked B, supplies gas to one large customer, Charmin\nPaper Mill.\nPlease advise if the pipelines, A through M, shown on the attached\ndrawing are intrastate gas transmission pipelines.\nLance F.
