Dear Mr. Morikawa:
The Installation of a regulator in an alcove with a louvered door facing the outside of a building would not
meet §§192.355(b)(2) or 192.357(d). Under these regulations, the vent outlet of a regulator installed inside a
building must be located outside to assure that any gas escaping through the vent is released in the outside
atmosphere.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Beam:
Subject: Code of Federal Regulations Title 49, Part 192, Subpart H
Sections 192.355 and 192.357 require customer regulators to be vented "freely into the atmosphere," and "to the
outside atmosphere." For the installation of a customer's meter set assembly in an alcove with a louvered door
facing the outside of building, would this satisfy the customer regulator requirements, as required by this section?
Your clarification and comments in this area will be appreciated.
Very truly yours,
David Y. Morikawa
Project Engineer
