Notice to train crews of placarded cars.

(a) The train crew must have a document indicating the position in the train of each loaded placarded car containing hazardous materials, except when the position is changed or the placarded car is placed in the train by a member of the train crew. A train consist may be used to meet this requirement.

(b) A member of the train crew of a train transporting a hazardous material must have a copy of a document for the hazardous material being transported showing the information required by part 172 of this subchapter.
