Communication Contents: THE RESPONSE OF THE COMMITTEE TO THIS RECOMMENDATION IN 1978 WAS THAT GUIDE MATERIAL COULD NOT BE DEVELOPED AT THAT TIME BECAUSE THE SATE OF THE ART IN AVAILABLE DETECTION AND CONTROL SYSTEM WAS NOT SUFFICIENTLY ADVANCED TO ENSURE THE INTEGRITY AND REPEATABILITY OF AUTOMATIC VALVES IN GAS TRANS MISSION PIPELINE SYSTEMS. THE COMMITTEE HAS AGAIN REVIEWED THE CURRENT STATE OF DEVELOPMENT OF DETECTION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS AND HAS CONCLUDED THAT LITTLE ADVANCEMENT HAS BEEN MADE SINCE 1978. IT IS THE OPINOIN OF THE COMMITTEE AT THIS TIME THAT ADDITIONAL MEANINGFUL GUIDE MATERIAL CANNOT BE DE VELOPED.
