FUNCTION-SPECIFIC TRAINING FOR ALUMINUM CYLINDERS (CGA C-6.1-1995 INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE IN 49 CFR) (SEE REFERENCE FOR A COMPLETE LISTING), MUST COVER THE WORKER’S: • Knowledge of paint removal to ensure they can sufficiently observe cylinder walls; • Ability to inspect cuts, dents, impact damage, structural damage, chemical damage, heat or fire damage, as well as understanding the corresponding levels of damage (levels 1, 2, and 3), and how such levels impact final cylinder use; • Ability to inspect the cylinder’s interior threads and O-rings using high-intensity lights; • Ability to recognize corrosion; and • Understanding the acceptable tolerances for damages beyond which the cylinder requires repair (Rejection), or if it must be taken out of service (Condemned).
