Cause detail: MALFUNCTION OF CONTROL/RELIEF EQUIPMENT
Cause detail: AT 06:00 OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN ARRIVED AT THE REAL COMPRESSOR STATION AND DISCOVERED A RELIEF VALVE VENTING NATURAL GAS TO ATMOSPHERE ON THE C-200 COMPRESSOR UNIT. TECHNICIAN RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY AND CLOSED THE ISOLATION VALVE TO THE 3X4" RELIEF VALVE THUS, ENDING THE EVENT. THIS UNIT HAS TWO RELIEF VALVES ON THE UNIT OPERATING IN PARALLEL AS A REDUNDANT SYSTEM. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RELIEF VALVE LIFTED PREMATURELY DUE TO A LEAK ON THE SENSING LINE FOR THE RELIEF VALVE DUE TO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION. THE SENSING LINE TUBING WAS REPLACED WITH ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS TO PREVENT FUTURE RECURRENCE.
