Cause detail: A SPECTRA ENERGY EMPLOYEE DISCOVERED BUBBLES IN PONDING WATER OVER TEXAS EASTERN TRANSMISSION, LP 36-INCH LINE 25 NEAR TREMONT, MISSISSIPPI IN ITAWAMBA COUNTY ON FEBRUARY 24, 2016. THE PIPELINE WAS EXCAVATED AND A PINHOLE LEAK IN THE DSAW LONG SEAM WELD WAS OBSERVED. METALLURGICAL ANALYSIS WAS PERFORMED, AND THE LEAK WAS THE RESULT OF A PINHOLE LEAK WITH A DIAMETER OF APPROXIMATELY 0.043'. THE PINHOLE WAS DUE TO POROSITY IN THE SEAM WELD. THE PIPE HAD BEEN HYDROSTATIC TESTED IN 1965 TO 1,378 PSIG (1.47 X MAOP) WITH NO LEAK DETECTED.
