Cause detail: INTERNAL CORROSION

Cause detail: ON THE EVENING OF OCTOBER 30TH, WILLIAMS RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE USCG STATING THAT THERE WERE BUBBLES SEEN COMING FROM COORDINATES 90 53.92N ' 29 08.750W. THE TRANSCO DISTRICT MANAGER DETERMINED THAT IT WAS SAFER TO WAIT UNTIL MORNING BEFORE SENDING A CREW OFFSHORE. AT THE TIME OF THE LEAK, TRANSCO COULD NOT VERIFY WHETHER IT WAS THEIR LINE LEAKING OR NOT. WHEN CREWS ARRIVED AT THE LEAK SITE, A DETERMINATION WAS MADE THAT IT WAS IN FACT TRANSCO'S PIPELINE. THE VALVES WERE CLOSED, THE LINE WAS BLOWN DOWN, AND A CLAMP WAS INSTALLED. THE LEAK WAS DETERMINED TO BE A PINHOLE LEAK AT THE 6 O'CLOCK POSITION ON THE GIRTH WELD. THE PIPELINE WAS RESTORED TO SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 8, 2011.
