Cause detail: CAR, TRUCK OR OTHER VEHICLE NOT RELATED TO EXCAVATION ACTIVITY

Cause detail: A BARGE RAN AGROUND AND STRUCK THE 14" UNDERGROUND NATURAL GAS PIPELINE IN THE INTERCOASTAL WATERWAY, CAUSING A PINHOLE LEAK IN THE PIPELINE AND A RELEASE OF NATURAL GAS. A SPECIAL LEAK CLAMP WAS FABRICATED AND INSTALLED ON THE PIPELINE, THE CLAMP WOULD NOT SEAL. A NEW UNDER WATER CROSSING WAS DRILLED TO ACCOMMODATE 800 FEET OF NEW 14 INCH PIPELINE. THE NEW CROSSING WAS CONNECTED TO EXISTING PIPELINE ON EACH SIDE OF INTECOASTAL WATERWAY. PIPELINE WAS RETURNED BACK TO SERVICE.
