Cause detail: AT APPROXIMATELY 8:00 PM ON FEB 22, 2004 WE RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT A POSSIBLE GAS TRANSMISSION LINE BREAK. UPON INVESTIGATION BY OUR GASMEN IT WAS DETERMINED THE LINE THAT CROSSED THE BRANCH OF THE NODAWAY RIVER HAD BROKEN. AT THIS TIME THE GAS SYSTEM WAS SHUT DOWN. THE TOWNS OF LENOX,CLEARFIELD AND BEDFORD WERE AFFECTED BY THE OUTAGE.IOWA PIPELINE WAS CONTACTED AFTER 11:00PM ON THE 22ND TO ASK THEM HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO GET STARTED ON THE REPAIRS.IOWA PIPELINE ARRIVED AT 600AM ON MONDAY MORNING TO BEGIN THE WORK. A DIRECTIONAL BORE UNDER THE RIVERBED RESTORED SERVICE AND GAS WAS FLOWING AGAIN BY 630PM ON TUESDAY THE 24TH . WE ASKED FOR MUTUAL AID TO HELP TO RESTORE THE SEVICES AND BUSINESSES. THREE OTHER COMMUNITIES ASSITED US. WE HAD 10 QUALIFIED GAS PERSONNEL ASSISTED BY APPROX 30 VOLUNTEERS TO HELP IN THE LIGHTING OF PILOTS. WE HAD 100% COVERAGE OF THE TOWN BY 1:00 AM ON THE 25TH WITH COMPLETION OF EVERYONE IN THE CITIES OF LENOX AND CLEARFIELD RESTORED BY 6:30 PM ON THE 25TH .
