Cause detail: MALFUNCTION OF CONTROL/RELIEF EQUIPMENT
Cause detail: AT 9:50 PM ON APRIL 28, 2016 A REGULATOR DIAPHRAGM AT THE EAST TENNESSEE NATURAL GAS MT. PLEASANT REDUCING STATION IN MAURY COUNTY, TENNESSEE DEVELOPED A TEAR WHICH CAUSED THE DOWNSTREAM PRESSURE TO INCREASE ABOVE THE RELIEF VALVE SET POINT PRESSURE RESULTING IN A RELEASE OF NATURAL GAS. APPROXIMATELY 100 PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED FROM THE VICINITY BY EMERGENCY RESPONSE OFFICIALS AS A PRECAUTION. SPECTRA ENERGY PERSONNEL SUBSEQUENTLY ISOLATED THE FACILITIES HALTING THE NATURAL GAS DISCHARGE.
