Cause detail: APPROXIMATELY 8 BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL WERE RELEASED FROM THE HUDSON FEDERAL 4" REPORTING-REGULATED-ONLY POLYETHYLENE PIPELINE. THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION AND A SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT WILL BE SUBMITTED ONCE THE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED. SUPPLEMENTAL NARRATIVE: THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A MATERIAL FAILURE OF THE WELD DURING ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION. TO PREVENT FUTURE RELEASES, PLAINS REPAIRED THE SECTION OF PIPING THAT FAILED.
