Cause detail: INTERNAL CORROSION
Cause detail: AN INCIDENT OF 157 BARREL SPILL RELEASE OCCURRED DUE TO INTERNAL CORROSION ON THE MC-1002 NON-DOT TRUNK LINE. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT A SUSPECTED LOW POINT IN THE LINE. UPON DISCOVERY OPERATIONS STOPPED FLOW AND INSTALLED A CLAMP AND THEN DE-OILED THE MC1002 TRUNK LINE USING A SEALING PIG AND A SWAB PIG TO MAKE READY FOR REPAIRS. ONCE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE THE LINE WAS PUT BACK IN SERVICE. SINCE THIS INCIDENT A ROBUST INTERNAL CORROSION PROGRAM HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED AND THE PIPELINE PIGGING FREQUENCY HAS BEEN MODIFIED AND EXPANDED. CLEAN UP IS COMPLETE.
