Cause detail: INTERNAL CORROSION
Cause detail: APPROXIMATELY 21.1 BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL WERE RELEASED FROM THE MONTERA 6INCH PIPELINE. THE DATE AND TIME OF THE RELEASE IS INDICATIVE OF THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE TIME THE RELEASE COULD HAVE STARTED BASED ON THE LAST TIME THE INCIDENT LOCATION HAD BEEN VISITED AND CONFIRMED TO BE NO RELEASE OF CRUDE OIL. THE CAUSE OF THE RELEASE IS ATTRIBUTED TO INTERNAL CORROSION. TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS, THE FAILED SECTION OF PIPE WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED. SUPPLEMENTAL: THE NOTIFICATION TO THE NEW MEXICO OIL CONSERVATION DIVISION (PART A Q15C) WAS MADE WITHIN 15 DAYS OF DISCOVERY IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEW MEXICO'S RELEASE NOTIFICATION REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. INTERNAL CORROSION WAS DETERMINED BASED ON INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL EXAMINATION OF THE RELEASE POINT.
