A material described as "Environmentally Hazardous Substances, liquid, n.o.s., Class 9, UN 3082, PG II!" may be shipped in non-DOT specification cargo tank motor vehicles suitable for transport of liquids, as specified in § 173.241(b). When the HMR authorizes "non-DOT specification cargo tank motor vehicles suitable for transport of liquids," any cargo tank may be used as long as it is able to contain liquids and meets the general packaging requirements in 49 CFR 173.24 and 173.24b.
