Box 19415 Houston, Texas 77024 Gentlemen: This is to acknowledge your inquiry of August 8, 1972, requesting our review of the test data, and installation history of the ZAP-LOK method of joining pipe and whether it complies with Section 192.273 of the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline Safety Standards. Use of the ZAP-LOK method is provided for under the requirements listed in Subpart F - Joining of Materials Other Than by Welding. Based on the data submitted with your letter of August 8, including the description by various gas operators of their individual installations the ZAP-LOK method of joining pipe appears to comply with the provisions of Section 192.273.
