Definitions [49 CFR 192.803]
Abnormal Operating Condition―a condition identified by the operator that may indicate a malfunction of a component or deviation from normal operations that may:#
(1)1. indicate a condition exceeding design limits; or#
(2)2. result in a hazard(s) to persons, property, or the environment.#
Evaluation―a process, established and documented by the operator, to determine an individual's ability to perform a covered task by any of the following:#
(1)1. written examination;#
(2)2. oral examination;#
(3)3. work performance history review;#
(4)4. observation during:#
(a)a. performance on the job;#
(b)b. on the job training; or#
(c)c. simulations; or#
(5)5. other forms of assessment.#
Qualified―that an individual has been evaluated and can:#
(1)1. perform assigned covered tasks; and#
(2)2. recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions.#
